Diversity & Inclusion at NLG
At NLG, we believe that diversity and inclusion are essential to the best representation of our clients and the successful operation of our firm.
Diversity at NLG means diversity in race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, and diversity of thought. Having a diversity of thought throughout our team helps us provide better service to our clients by reflecting the community in which we live and mirroring the differences in the judges who we appear in front of daily.
Our firm’s commitment to diversity began with our managing partner, Seth Nelson. His late mother, Alice Nelson, was a dedicated advocate for civil rights and focused her entire legal career representing clients – as she would say “that nobody wanted to represent.” From fighting for a pregnant woman to keep her job, for a gay man to stay in the military, and for children with disabilities to receive a free and appropriate public education, she was a trailblazer in every sense of the phrase.
Thus began the firm’s commitment to diversity.
'From its inception to the present, we continue to embrace diversity at NLG. Our team is represented by members of the Black community, the LGBTQ+ community, the military veteran’s community, the Christian community, and the Jewish community. Sixty percent of our employees are women.
Our recruiting efforts focus on ensuring we make opportunities within our firm available to all qualified candidates, including those who come from diverse employment and educational backgrounds. We foster an inclusive environment, and we recognize that diversity of talents, skills, and experiences strengthens our firm and the service we are able to provide to our clients.
